Who could represent the musical traditions of the city of Salzburg, with a special regard to the music of Mozart, more authentically than the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg? Joining forces with the chief conductor of the ensemble, Kristóf Baráti, one of the world’s most sought-after violinists, will perform two violin concertos that Mozart composed in Salzburg. The Brisith Ivor Bolton has dinstinguished himself with superb productions he conducted at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. In the mid-1990s he was principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and leader of St James’s Baroque Players, with whom he played the harpsichord. He has been chief conductor of the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg since 2004. Bolton started the 2015–2016 season as music director of the Teatro Real, Madrid, and will take up the responsibilities of chief conductor at the Symphony Orchestra Basel the next year. He has recorded a number of CDs with the works of Mozart, Haydn, Berlioz and Bruckner.
