Az a feladatunk, hogy valódi tehetségeket formáljunk, akikben megvan a mesterré váláshoz szükséges képesség, s ne foglalkozzunk a tehetségtelen középszerrel.

Turning Point – this is the subtitle of this year’s kamara.hu chamber festival organized by Izabella Simon and Dénes Várjon, which last year finally found a true home in the Liszt Academy – and we trust a home for ever. Last year, the Firsts and Lasts series was on the programme, which featured many international artists; this year, the festival brings together compositions that proved to be true turning points in the life of the composer, or in the history of music, or in the genre. The first concert spans the distance from Schubert to Bartók and features the two artistic directors together with several other exceptional artists: the Norwegian contemporary composer and fine violinist Henning Kraggerud; Carolin Widmann, who in 1998 at the age of 22, won the special prize of the jury chair at the International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition; a long-time chamber partner of Dénes Várjon, German cellist Christoph Richter, an artist also familiar with contemporary music and one who carries out extensive teaching activities; one of the most sought-after soprano stars on American opera stages Sarah Shafer, who recently debuted at Carnegie Hall; and last but by no means least an artist surely needing little introduction, the excellent clarinettist Csaba Klenyán. All are old chamber partners of Izabella Simon and Dénes Várjon, as well as being great friends of theirs.
