MÁV Szimfonikus Zenekar

Vezényel: Csaba Péter
One of the most celebrated Hungarian musical artists of our time, István Várdai takes the stage with the MÁV Symphony Orchestra. His success is attested by the third prize of the Tchaikovsky Cello Competition in 2007, the first prize and special awards at the International Cello Competition 2008 in Geneva, but his kind and modest personality is something to be mentioned as well. He performs a rarely heard, but nonetheless highly acclaimed piece of the cello concerto literature, the Cello Concerto by Elgar, which is preceded by a festival march of the composer. Following the intermission, the symphony of Dvořák entitled “From the New World” will be featured, which was composed during his stay in the United States, and expresses a deep longing of the composer for his homeland. The principal conductor and music director of the orchestra, Péter Csaba has begun his career in Transylvania, calls France his home country now, and has toured many parts of the world from Finland to Japan. Besides the popular pieces, he likes to surprise his audience with musical rarities, and luckily for us, the current program is no exception.
