Jazzation: Butterfly Effect

20th Anniversary Concert - Guest: Mihály Borbély

Jazzation: Katus Várallyay, Sára Bolyki, Gina Kanizsa, Barnabás Bolyki, Máté Homor (vocals), Mihály Borbély (wind instruments)

The ensemble is celebrating its 20th anniversary in a fitting way with the guest appearance of Kossuth Prize-winning jazz and world musician Mihály Borbély.

The formation that has won the most professional awards in Europe and overseas has now matured into the country's number one jazz and world music acapella ensemble. Jazzation's career was born from a volatile dream so light as a fluttering butterfly, and today - two decades later - their music fills concert halls all over the world. In addition to the emblematic five-part sound, this evening special wind instruments become part of the vocal texture.

On the day of the concert, Jazzation will release its most virtuoso material to date, a concept album titled PANNONICA, inspired by the life of the Jazz Baroness with Hungarian ancestors. Pannonica Rothschild, who got her special first name from a butterfly from the Carpathian Basin, wrote her name in jazz history as a generous patron of American jazz musicians of the 50s and 60s. Nica had no idea, as we now know, that her life would have an elemental impact on the development of the genre. Just as a butterfly has no idea that the fluttering of its wings will cause a whirlwind on the other side of the Earth.
