The 41st Annual Congress and General Assembly of the European Association of Conservatoires (Association Européene des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen – AEC) held between 13-15 November 2014 in the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music was an indication of the international standing and prestige of the Academy. Founded in 1953 and representing nearly 300 higher music education institutions, the professional body is primarily engaged in promoting and intensifying cooperation between its members, as well as interest representation at an international level.

The principal topics of the AEC conference in Budapest were the U-Multirank, the sophisticated higher education ranking system of the European Union, and music teaching, and the links between music education and European society, as well as European tradition and global innovation. During the conference there was an opportunity to showcase the highly successful international projects as well as the most outstanding students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. The meeting was closed on 15 November with a private concert commemorating also the foundation of the Liszt Academy: Bartók’s Dance Suite and Kodály’s Psalmus Hungaricus performed by the Liszt Academy Symphony Orchestra and Alma Mater Chorus.

The video features the idea of creating a European Agenda for Music. The proposal to have such an Agenda was first made by the European Music Council in 2013, and AEC has taken it up vigorously as part of its FULL SCORE project (2014-17). Dr. László Norbert Nemes, director of the Kodály Institute, key speaker of the conference panel 'Ensuring access to music education for all throughout Europe and beyond' speaks about the goals and realization of the Agenda. Please find more details in the homepage of the AEC.
