Mira Farkas Succeeds at 3rd International Harp Competition
The harp student of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music won three special awards at the 3rd International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary.
More than 100 young harpists of 20 countries engaged in the international contest which took place at the Móra Ferenc Museum of Szeged between 28 November-1 December 2013. The participants, who arrived from several European countries, as well as from the USA, and even South Korea and Japan, competed in three age groups. Mira Farkas excelled in the highest age category wherein the competitors' repertoire included, besides the optional pieces, Attila Reményi's Miniatures for Harp as compulsory work for the semi final round, and Claude Debussy's Dances for Harp and String Quintet for the finals. For her outstanding performance, the Liszt Academy student won the Prize of the Victoria-Gasteiz International Festival, which earned her a master course in Spain, along with two special awards granted by Andrea Vigh, President of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and by the internationally renowned harpist Willy Postma.
