Looking back on the Reconnections-project

"Music in general and collaborative concerts specifically provide an exclusive opportunity for people from different cultures and backgrounds to meet and connect, thereby building bridges for understanding and friendship. This goes beyond the personal, and extends to the national and global spheres, eradicating xenophobia and prejudice. These are the goals we have set for this unique joint program, the President of Liszt Academy and me" stated Ilan Mor, ambassador of Israel in Hungary, initiator of the workshop in the information publication of the Reconnections Project.  Hungarian students and their professors already visited Jerusalem in 2013; this year on the occasion of the anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Hungary the students and professors of Jerusalem arrived to Budapest.

The professors of the two institutions have been teaching the talented students together while they had the chance to practice as an ensemble for a week and to perform at the final concert at the Sir Georg Solti Chamber Hall of the Liszt Academy (furthermore, the day before they also performed at the Kodály Centre in Pécs). The Brahms string sextet in G major Mozart's K.183 g minor symphony were performed as well as pieces by three emblematic composer-teachers of the Liszt Academy: Weiner, Dohnányi and Bartók. A piece by the former president of the Jerusalem Academy of Dance and Music, Mark Kopytman (1929-2011) was also part of the repertoire.

"Our guests were delighted by the high quality of the infrastructure and the support the cooperation received" – said Dr. Andrea Vigh, president of the Liszt Academy. She added that the participating institutions are highly pleased with the co-operation and the continuation of the Reconnections project next year in Jerusalem is already arranged.
