Liszt Academy to launch discount system instead of season tickets in the new season
Ticket sales for the autumn concerts organised by the Liszt Academy, featuring a host of Hungarian and foreign celebrities, started on June 2. Anyone purchasing tickets for multiple concerts in a given series will receive a significant discount.
The Liszt Academy compiled its concert offer for the autumn 2021 season with a high quality in mind and in a similar structure as in previous years. When planning the upcoming season, a number of previously canceled programmes were assigned a new date, as it was important to salvage these events. Given the current situation, the Liszt Academy will continue the recent practice of not issuing season tickets; instead, it offers a discount to those purchasing tickets for several concerts at the same time within the same thematic series. For tickets purchased for three different concerts there will be a 10 percent discount and for the purchase of four or more tickets, there will be a 15 percent discount on the purchase price. Those registered for the Liszt Academy Extra service will receive an additional 5 percent discount.
Chamber music aficionados will have a rich selection to choose their favourites from. The Chamber Music for the Grand Hall series includes a Shostakovich evening performed by Kristóf Baráti, István Várdai and Zoltán Fejérvári and a joint performance by Péter Frankl and the Kelemen Quartet, to name but a few. The string quartet series entitled Four by Four will also continue; the series featuring chamber orchestras will focus on music composed by Mozart (Mozart +). As part of the series, the Manchester Camerata will take the stage under the baton of conductor Gábor Nagy Takács and together with pianist Dénes Várjon; Kristóf Baráti and Maxim Rysanov will perform with the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra will perform together with soloist Martin Frost. The Chamber Music, So Close series comes with a line-up of exceptional concerts, including performances by the Auer Trio, the Kodály String Quartet, Ilona Prunyi, Vilmos Oláh, Péter Bársony, Dóra Kokas, László Fenyő, István Lajkó and Ditta Rohmann. In the baroque series, music lovers will have a chance to meet again with Gábor Boldoczki and the musicians of Capella Gabetta.
The highlights of the piano series include solo performance by Alexander Melnikov, Gábor Farkas and Mihály Berecz. Iveta Apkalna will be playing the organ again, her concert featuring works by J.S. Bach and contemporary Baltic authors. The Complete Works series will continue with Schubert's trios, with the excellent young French cellist Camille Thomas performing at the Liszt Academy for the first time in addition to Gábor Farkas and Vilmos Szabadi. The Here and Now series includes a Vidovszky retrospective, the Amadinda Percussion Project and an evening commemorating Zoltán Kocsis, with the participation of pianist Kirill Gerstein.
Young talents will again take the stage to entertain the audience; for example, Ádám Szokolay, winner of the piano round of the Bartók World Competition will give a solo performance. The thematic programme of pianists Izabella Simon and Dénes Várjon is organised around the kamara.hu festival, which will take place in November and features Proust's great novel, In Search of Lost Time, as its main theme. The concerts of the series entitled Masters of the Orchestra will be performed the Liszt Academy Symphony Orchestra, which was awarded the National Youth Orchestra title, under the baton of Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, Salamon Kamp and Ádám Medveczky.
The Acoustic, Authentic series will feature concerts by Pázsint and Sára Tímár, among others; the Jazz here series line-up includes performances by Júlia Karosi and her fellow musician as well as the Binder Trio. The children's programmes entitled Liszt Kidz Academy will also continue this season.
The concerts will be open to the public in accordance with current regulations. Ticket sales for the performances started on June 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. on the website of the Liszt Academy and the Academy’s ticket office, which is open on Monday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vouchers received for cancelled performances can also be used for ticket purchases.
