Liszt Academy Focuses on Hungarian Performers
Liszt Academy is to introduce multiple changes to counter effects of economic challenges, including its operations and programming.
Like many others, Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music has been affected by the recent economic crisis. Nevertheless, the institution aims at ensuring both world-class education and a prestigious concert life. Liszt Academy is counting on the solidarity and understanding of the Hungarian cultural community to ensure that it operates sustainably.
Costs are expected to rise considerably in the near future, while USD and EUR exchange rates have affected previous budget plans. As a result, restructuring became unavoidable and the institution is also saving on heating and electricity costs.
Dr Andrea Vigh, president of Liszt Academy stresses that the university is prepared for all forms of education and is able to offer flexible, high-quality teaching, both face-to-face and online, meeting all training requirements while striving to offer face-to-face classes.
In the midst of the changes affecting the concert season, several events have been cancelled, mainly performances by foreign performers, though further discussions are still being held. The focus will be on renowned Hungarian performers, with a number of prestigious artists and teachers of the university who have already signed up to perform, with the university providing infrastructural backround. Liszt Academy will continue to offer its audience memorable concerts in the autumn season. The programme announced for 2023 is also being redesigned, it will be finalised and tickets will go on sale in the second half of November.
